Hi everyone,

I'm new to this newsgroup so my question could be asked hundreds of times but I take the chance on that.

Is there a way to backup Opera (almost)completely????????????????

When I have to install Opera, after a fresch install of windows XP -pro (after several crasches that should not happen according Microsoft Install shield) I would like to run a sort of restore that would update my "new" Opera with all my CONTACTS, BOOKMARKS, NEWSGROEPS and most important, ALL MY READ MAILS, wands etc. etc. and my personal settings to.

I still can't believe that an program like Opera doesn't have a function like that, altough you can find functions like this in other programs like OUTPOST.
I hate to switch to another program but I have to, if I can't find a quick solution for backup.

Luckily I didn't buy Opera (free version) yet and I shure WON'T EVER if this is not implemented.

I left a note on the Opera site but didn't got any answer. (not a paying customer yet??)

What solutions are possible??

Thanks in advance

Make a copy of your profile folder and all it's subfolders.
AFAIK, everything you need [and some stuff you don't] is in there.

You could always do what I do, particularly since I like to reinstall
the O/S periodically to keep things running smooth.

I have XP Pro installed in a partition along with only those programs
that won't run without being reinstalled. e.g. WordPerfect, Lotus 123, etc.

On another partition I have all the apps that run quite nicely without
being reinstalled. e.g. Opera, PaintShopPro, Thunderbird, etc.

I actually keep NO generated data on my O/S partition. My Documents
folder, temp, Opera profiles, email, everything I, or the system,
generates is kept on a seperate partition.

When the time comes to reinstall the O/S, I simply format it's partition
and have at it. There's nothing to back up.

In fact, all my device drivers are on a different partition so I don't
have to mess with CD's during the reinstall.

This sounds very nice. I'm heading in this direction myself and
I'll borrow some of your ideas, if you don't mind ;-)
